How to prevent explosion accidents caused by leakage of electric furnace walls and covers

(1) Before electric furnace power transmission and smelting, it is necessary to strictly inspect and confirm according to the process specifications, and confirm that the cooling water flow and pressure of all water cooling systems are normal. During normal smelting, close attention should be paid to various situations inside the furnace. If abnormal flipping of molten steel or steam overflow is found in the furnace, smelting operations must be stopped immediately. After careful inspection and confirmation, smelting can continue. Before tapping, it is necessary to confirm again whether there is any water leakage in the furnace. Otherwise, tapping operation cannot be carried out. Maintenance personnel and relevant responsible personnel should be immediately notified to confirm and take corresponding measures.

(2) Establish records for the furnace shell, furnace cover, and other water-cooled components, and replace them regularly.

(3) During each maintenance period, the wall thickness of the water-cooled plate is checked (especially the water-cooled plate and the water-cooled plate that has been repaired by welding for leakage in the arc prone area near the transformer room of the electric furnace), and any problems are promptly replaced.

(4) Mechanical maintenance personnel must strictly follow the welding process regulations and assign experienced welders to handle leaking water-cooled plates during welding repairs, ensuring welding quality and avoiding accidents.

(5) After the maintenance of the water-cooled furnace wall, a layer of refractory material must be sprayed on the inner working surface of the furnace wall to protect it. During electric furnace smelting operation, foam slag must be made for submerged arc smelting. If the slag foaming effect is not good, the power supply power must be reduced to reduce the damage caused by the arc to the furnace wall.

(6) The instrumentation and electrical systems must ensure that the flow, pressure, and temperature signals of all water cooling systems in the electric furnace are normal and accurate. When restarting after a long shutdown, it is necessary to carefully inspect and confirm that all water-cooled components are intact and there is no leakage. If leakage is found, it must be treated. After the treatment is completed, the refractory material at the leakage site must be carefully inspected to confirm that the refractory material is dry and intact before starting the furnace for smelting.

(7) Strictly control the quality of incoming raw materials and carry out smelting in accordance with the requirements of the process regulations. Waste steel must not be damp or contain materials such as ice, snow, sealed containers, or explosives to prevent explosions from causing water leakage from the water-cooled plate. The occurrence of malignant boiling accidents should be cut off.
